Point guard Tyler Ulis, ranked No. 38 in the nation per ESPN, will announce his decision today and is widely expected to pick Kentucky over Michigan State and Iowa, per ZagsBlog.

Kentucky missed out on elite point guard Emmanuel Mudiay to Larry Brown and SMU and if Wildcat head coach John Calipari lands Ulis, it could take them out of the running for Duke target and top-rated point guard Tyus Jones, as Adam Rowe notes in his weekly Blue Devil Bites (subscription required).

Duke basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski conducted an in-home visit with Jones this week, as did Kansas, Baylor, Minnesota and Kentucky. According to Rowe, Baylor has faded in the race for Jones and assuming Kentucky lands Ulis today, Kansas appears to be the only legitimate threat for him joining Duke’s 2014 recruiting class.

Jones is AAU teammates with Duke target Reid Travis, who is officially visiting this weekend, and close friends with the top player in 2014, Jahlil Okafor. Jones and Okafor have said on multiple occasions they plan to play together in college and many see Duke as the favorite. Duke also conducted an in-home with Okafor this week.

The Blue Devils’ lone commit thus far in the class of 2014 is guard Grayson Allen.
